The Day I Had to Say ‘Go Back and Clean Your Poo’ !

Every job has its challenges…
Digging footings.
Setting levels.
Sourcing materials.
And apparently…
Cleaning the crime scene in a clients bathroom!

One minute I’m running a job helping the team set out the levels for some landscaping, the Next thing you know, I’m holding a TED Talk on basic toilet etiquette 🙄

We do not leave abstract art in the toilet.EVER!
Because protecting the client experience > protecting your ego 🤣

As a growing construction company, we generate leads in a variety of ways throughout the year, from word of mouth and recommendations to website enquiries and repeat clients. And at times, we also use lead generation platforms like MyBuilder to fill in the gaps and reach new homeowners.

Now let me be clear, I’ve always spoken highly of MyBuilder in the past. It’s helped us secure some great projects over the years, and I know plenty of tradespeople who’ve had success with it.
But recently, things have changed.
More and more of the ‘leads’ coming through feel like nothing more than spam or even scams, costing us time, money, and energy chasing jobs that aren’t real or aren’t serious.

We’ve contacted MyBuilder directly to raise these concerns, but it’s been over two weeks and we’ve yet to receive a response.

This isn’t a post to slate the platform, it’s to spark an honest conversation.

⚠️ Shouldn’t there be some form of vetting for homeowners before they can post job listings?

Do you offer a free, no obligation quotation?

How are payments handled and dealt with?

Of course! We are more than happy to visit your property at a time convenient for yourself and quote for the required works.

Full payment is never required upfront. In our opinion all respectable building companies will not require the full balance upfront. Instead, a detailed contract will be drawn up which will state set milestones customised to your project detailing when payments are due at different work intervals. The final payment will be required only once all works are completed.

Are you properly insured?

Here at Stately Home Developments Ltd we have a £2,000,000 Public Liability insurance. So in the unlikely event of an accident or incidental damage, you, your family and your property will be fully covered.
